The reality

Shariah Control work rarely arrives as one document or one decision

Syndicated financings and sukuk programmes span dozens of linked documents in Arabic and English, with drafts moving repeatedly between Shariah Control and business teams. This creates substantial repetitive work and makes cross-document inconsistencies or an overlooked check easier to miss when reviewers are under pressure.

What Burhan does

Five focused capabilities for review and consultation

01

Multi-document Shariah review

Analyse whole documents in context, including linked agreements in the same review session, in Arabic and English. Burhan reviews the document set consistently, surfacing cross-document inconsistencies and other points for review. Findings cite source clauses so reviewers can verify, amend or override the analysis; Burhan does not issue approvals or rulings.

02

Shariah consultation workspace

Bring your own documents and images into a research conversation against a curated corpus of AAOIFI standards and jurisdictional regulator references. Answers cite their sources; where a question falls outside the corpus, general AI content is clearly marked as such and requires the same professional scrutiny as any other secondary source. Where source attribution must remain tightly bounded, general AI fallback can be disabled entirely, so every answer is grounded in the corpus and cited.

03

Chat to the standards corpus

Ask a question and get an answer drawn exclusively from AAOIFI standards and selected regulator references — no general AI, no document upload. Every answer is grounded in the corpus and cites its source passages, with retrieval scoped to the jurisdictions your institution has selected and AAOIFI as the always-on baseline. Built for the quick lookups that punctuate review work: a definition, a standard's treatment of a structure, a regulator's stated position.

04

Contract revision comparison

Link successive drafts and compare their multi-document review outcomes side by side. Changes between drafts are where issues can quietly enter, so Burhan flags differences in findings, citations and dispositions for the team to review. This comparison is not a full document redline and does not decide whether a change is acceptable.

05

Scholar-owned review reports

Every applicable check is evaluated and shown in a per-check disposition table, including clean outcomes, so nothing is silently skipped. Reviewers accept, reject or adjust each finding with notes, and the AI's view and the reviewer's view remain separate in the audit trail. The exported report is ready for a scholar to approve and send to legal, business lines or the Committee.

Grounded in AAOIFI standards and regulatory frameworks including CBUAE, SAMA, DFSA, QFCRA, SC Malaysia, BNM and FCA.

Our principle: Burhan carries the repetitive work and provides a consistent second pass; scholarly judgement stays with the team.

Deployment and data

Designed for enterprise deployment requirements

Burhan can be deployed as SaaS, in a private cloud or on-premises. Air-gapped deployment is available for institutions that require it, scoped per engagement. Data residency requirements and a full review audit trail are supported, and the AI model used for analysis is agreed with each institution and attested on every analysis.

Burhan is built by SmartApp Solutions Ltd, a UK company, and led by its founder — an Arabic speaker with 25 years building enterprise systems for global banks including HSBC, Credit Suisse and Schroders.
